Toga

Procedure Overview

The TOGA® Procedure is a new investigational** incision-free treatment for obesity. The TOGA® System is a set of flexible staplers designed to be introduced and operated transorally (through the mouth) to restrict the capacity of the stomach, giving patients a feeling of fullness after a small meal. The procedure is intended to be safer and easier for patients to tolerate than conventional obesity surgery.

** The TOGA System has been granted CE Mark but is not yet available for sale.

Intended Benefits of the TOGA Procedure

  • Uses the same approach as restrictive bariatric procedures – designed to limit the capacity of the stomach to give patients a feeling of fullness after a small meal
  • Uses standard titanium staple technology
  • No surgical incisions
  • Less invasive than standard bariatric surgical procedures

Steps of the TOGA Procedure

Step 1
Step 1

With the patient under general anesthesia, the TOGA Sleeve Stapler is inserted through the mouth into the stomach.
Step 2
Step 2

Tissue is gathered into the stapler using suction and staples are delivered.
Step 3
Step 3

This creates a narrow sleeve.
Step 4
Step 4

The process is repeated to create a sleeve of desired length.
Step 5
Step 5

The sleeve slows the movement of food through the stomach, giving a feeling of fullness after a smaller meal.
